→ checking in... hello

hello! i hope May is treating you well.

last month, about two weeks ago on April 26, Mish Mash happened! i had so much fun DJing with my friend 64bit as "numbers"... we finally got a chance to spin some jungle! it was also so cool to see all the amazing art that others had made (i also had an AMAZING salted caramel brownie by brown butter bliss T__T). i barely spent any time at the DJ table because i was too caught up looking at everyone's pieces. i'm excited for if / when Mish Mash happens again; it was really so special.

in addition to presenting CDs, i put together a binder of all visual works and resources for 14.4ml from 2023 to 2026. it includes most website and album / ep resources, as well as additional sketches previously not released. it was interesting (read: challenging) to talk about the design choices i made when they seemed very natural and obvious to me at the time; working on this made 2024 feel like a lifetime ago! and while it was fun to do, in all honesty, putting together a collection of my own art was so trippy and disorienting... but in a good way, almost. especially when at times i feel like i'm not doing enough, this little workbook made me remember how much love and sincerity i really put into 14.4ml after all; and as the focus of someone who was a computer artist before a computer musician, 14.4ml is as much of a visual project as it is musical.

i finally got around to scanning the binder today. you can download / view the scan of all pages of the 14.4ml visual work binder as it was presented at Mish Mash here. the same link is now also available through the files section of the website.

what else to talk about... i've spent the past few months feeling very alive. i think i forgot to mention it, but this year i gave some more thought into how i want to spend my time on my computer and online, and i concluded that i want the quality of my computer time to increase. i'm trying to be more conscious of what i'm doing and searching for, and stopping when i have what i need. this means a lot less time online... but with my ethernet cable unplugged, it also means a lot more time where i'm able to work on music and art with little disruption! (yes, i've been unplugging my cable for hours at a time. i have also tried my best to not be online on sundays so i can get my chores done...).

so with less time online, i've found myself just living life for a while, if inadvertently. i've been trying my best to get 8+ hours of sleep every night, practicing my instrument, reading, borrowing movies, singing with my friends... in general i've been trying to take better care of myself so i can be better equipped to enjoy my life ^_^. if you were my boss and 14.4ml was the workplace then it would sound like i'm GOOFING OFF but actually it's very good for me it's like enrichment... and i make better music when im enriched im like a snail and music is my slime... so yes new music is being made! i just can't say more about it...........

lastly... because i'm not sure when the next update to this website will be, i'm doing my little music roundup early... here are some albums i've been listening to so far this year. i got so overwhelmed with new music this year that i went back in time! i decided not to really talk about them this time because, to be honest, i feel they speak for themselves.

Portishead - Dummy (1994)

Björk - Post (1995)

Massive Attack - Mezzanine (1998)

Kid606 - Who Still Kill Sound? (2004)

octet* / various artists - "REBELLION" einhänder remixes album (2007)

Kelela - Take Me Apart (2017)

i hope you enjoy the visual works binder, and thank you very much for sticking around!
